Brauchts da neues Zubehör? ...smartApple-Keynote, gestern 12. September.

Since 2014, the world's most profitable smartphone company has -- without warning -- permanently disabled some iPhones that had their home buttons replaced by repair shops in the course of fixing a shattered screen. Phones that underwent the same repair at Apple service centers, meanwhile, have continued working just fine.
The message seems clear, at least to the multibillion-dollar independent repair industry: Your phone is yours until you decide to get it fixed. Then it's Apple's.
The root of that debacle dates to 2009, when Apple started using proprietary screws in MacBooks, and later iPhones, to keep DIY types from making simple fixes or souping up their systems. Although repair shops eventually obtained compatible screwdrivers (by making them), the episode illustrated how paranoid Apple can be about anyone tinkering with its products: Among other things, it refuses to release repair manuals for its devices, maintains a stranglehold on spare parts, won't share information on diagnostic equipment and software, and isn't even accepting applications for new authorized service providers. All of which suggests that it wants to curtail consumer choice in favor of its own services.
More to the point, if Apple's executives don't address the problem, lawmakers will do so for them. And that would be no bad thing: Apple's service centers might suffer for it, but its customers -- and their phones -- will only benefit.
Apple Inc. is preparing to unveil successors to the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus as early as next month with more advanced photography capabilities and upgraded hardware in a design similar to that of last year’s models, according to people familiar with the matter.
The standout features will be a dual-camera system on the larger iPhone, a re-engineered home button that responds to pressure with a vibrating sensation rather than a true physical click and the removal of the devices’ headphone jack, said the people, who didn’t want to be identified discussing unannounced features. Apple declined to comment.
The dual cameras on the larger new iPhone will produce brighter photos with more detail, according to a person who has used a prototype version of the upcoming device. Both sensors, which each capture color differently, simultaneously take a picture, and the device produces a single, merged photograph, said the person.
The dual system sharpens photos taken in low-light environments, the person said. The combination of the merged photos from the two camera sensors also allows users to zoom while retaining more clarity, the person added. The smaller version of the new phones will not include dual lenses, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said earlier this year.

Apple has slowly increased the average price of an iPhone since 2007, but with the $999 iPhone X release last year, it made a bigger leap than usual. A year later, after the shock value of a thousand dollar smartphone had largely worn off, Apple made another jump.
On Wednesday, the company announced its most expensive iPhone ever, the iPhone XS Max, which starts at $1,099 and can cost up to $1,449 for the model with the most memory.
Component prices may have lowered in the past year, according to analysts, but Apple's new pricing doesn't reflect that. It does reflect Apple's strategy for making money off of iPhones while sales are plateauing around the world.
"Apple has been intentionally testing the price elasticity of its products in the past few years, and what it found is customers have an appetite for more expensive iPhones,"
Customers are also paying for the brand. They want the Apple logo on the back of large rectangle with a smooth gold finish.
Eben ... Ich kann die Zeit auch von einer Rolex die Zeit lesen oder mit einem Ferrari von A nach B gelangen.Instead of trying to reach everyone, Apple is embracing its unique place in the industry as more of a luxury brand, said Lam.
"In a very mature market like this, Apple's probably doing the classical Econ 101 [approach], which is trying to extract the most money and revenue for the premium brand," said Lam.
